Direct Trade Farms

Sustainability in the coffee industry is a multi-faceted process. It starts with sustainable profitability for the farmers. Why would anyone work this hard for little to no money? Also regenerative practices to combat economic and weather related changes in the industry. Also responsible support of the communities that produce these coffees. Education, food, services, and healthcare in the areas where the coffees are grown.

The Roastery

Sourcing quality beans is only the start. Quality equipment, a sanitary facility, and food service handling practices are also key to perfect coffee. Our facility is 100% off-grid. We are self sustaining and are not connected to the grid or public services in any way. Our facility is also in the lush high desert of New Mexico at an altitude of 7450 feet. The roasting process is completely hands-on. We prefer extremely light roasts to medium roasts only. We believe the fruit forward flavor notes, and complexity of the beans can only be achieved at these roast levels.

Small Batch Roasting

Another way we set ourselves apart from our competitors is roasting to order. There are no beans just laying around here. We roast in batches to order - package immediately - then ship them to your door. We only buy in-season, freshly sourced green coffee beans. We do not buy discounted coffee, last seasons coffee, or any coffee acquired just for profit. We only source, buy, roast, and consume exceptional quality coffees. If we don't drink it, we will not sell it.

Packaging

A lot of consideration has gone into our packaging. Recyclable, ecologically responsible, and non-plastic releasing materials are used in our bags. The labels are Kraft paper as well with non-toxic ink. The bags are one-way valved for de-gassing, and have a zip-tear opening with resealable closure. Flat bottomed bags also allow for easy placement on store shelves and your refrigerator. All the information about the origin, roast profile, and tasting notes are all on the front label.
